ORGANIZATION: Hope Academy of The Denver Street School

Transportation is integral to our program. We need female drivers to safely bring students to school in the morning and take them home after school. While this is a driving role, it is also a mentoring role. Great conversations can happen during morning or afternoon commutes. Volunteers can drive their own vehicles or utilize the Hope Academy van. Our students are located around the Denver-metro area. Timing will be dependent on where the volunteers and the students reside. School starts at 9 a.m. and ends at 4 p.m. Extreme flexibility. Do not have to drive morning and afternoon shift on one day.

Mission Statement

To come alongside young survivors of sexual exploitation and/or trafficking and assist them in pursuing healing and restoration, and earning a high school diploma.

Description

After serving as a beacon of hope to Denver’s at-risk youth for over 30 years, the Denver Street School has opened its third campus, created specifically for adolescent girls who have been recovered from domestic sex trafficking. Hope Academy is a faith-based, trauma-informed campus for girls and young women, ages 12 - 18, that provides comprehensive services to meet the complex needs of the girls, including:

Individualized education
Individual and group counseling
Mentoring and discipleship
Enrichment Classes in these areas: Creative Expression, Spiritual & Emotional, Health & Wellness, Life Skills
Leadership development and advocacy

Students will receive academic credit toward a high school diploma for all activities throughout the day. For those students whose life circumstances make it difficult for them to fully engage in school, Hope Academy staff are available to help create a plan that will work. The success of our students is our priority. We aim to help students achieve their goals in every area of their lives and empower them to make healthy life choices.
