Chaparral House is a Skilled Nursing Facility in Berkeley dedicated to providing excellent person-centered care to elders.
We do monthly outings (or field trips) with our residents and need volunteers to help out, being matched up with an elder for the trip. An activity staff person leads the group and Certified Nurses Aid accompanies the group as well.
Outings are usually on the 3rd Saturday of each month but can vary. Outings included going to a local park for a picnic or a nearby coffee shop or restaurant for a treat or meals.
Volunteers must be at least 16 years old and able to push a wheelchair for up to several blocks. A sack lunch is provided for picic outings but for other outings volunteers pay their own way.
