The project provides a school and open home serving children. Its work revolves around the human rights and children’s rights established by the International Convention. They aim to prevent at-risk youth from turning to the street and to stimulate their development by strengthening their family relationships.
They accompany and support families with primary education and work training for children and adolescents who are on the street or at risk. Also, they establish a space that pays full attention to children’s rights. Finding new homes for children and adolescents who are not able to reestablish connections with their families is also part of their work.

Description
Proyecto Mosaico is a German non-profit association based in Berlin/Germany with an office in Granada/Nicaragua. The focus of our work is coordinating international volunteers to organizations and projects in various countries in Central America. In addition to the coordination of volunteers, we are actively engaged in our own projects in the fields of environmental education and water and we increasingly conduct networking activities and capacity building for our local partner organizations.
We partner with local organizations that specialize in the following areas: EDUCATION & SOCIAL WORK, WOMEN, and/or ENVIRONMENT. We support organizations by providing educational, work, and networking activities, individual consulting, and support for project planning and implementation. We also assist in the collection and distribution of cash or in-kind donations.
We see volunteering as one of the best ways to promote communication and understanding between people from different cultures and thus contribute to international understanding. Our approach to volunteering is defined by equal cooperation and mutually beneficial partnerships. As part of our work, we put great value on both sides - organizations and volunteers - benefiting through cooperation. We strive to ensure this mutual benefit by providing robust consulting for our volunteers, keeping close contact with our partner organizations, and offering training and informational events.
