Advocate for a Child in Foster Care - Become a CASA

ORGANIZATION: Woodland United Way

  • 4 people are interested

Yolo County CASAs are trained and court-appointed volunteers who advocate on behalf of abused children and at-risk youth. Together with the community's involvement and generous support, Yolo County CASA will positively impact the lives of our children.

Becoming a CASA volunteer is a powerful and rewarding experience. As an advocate for a child in foster care, you will be making a difference in the lives of our community's children. Past volunteers have characterized the experience as one of the most reqarding experiences they've had. Yolo County CASA always needs more volunteers.

A Court Appointed Special Advocate is a specially trained and supported community volunteer, appointed by a judge. CASAs make a difference in the lives of abused and neglected children by working with the child and everyone in that child's life to monitor how they are doing while in the foster care system. CASAs usually advocate for only one or two children at a time, allowing ample time to gather thorough information. They build relationships with their "CASA" kids, spending time with them, gathering facts about their situation so they can report back to the judge to allow for decision making that is in the child's best interest.

United Way’s goal is to create long-lasting changes by addressing the underlying causes of these problems. Living united means being a part of the change. It takes everyone in the community working together to create a brighter future. Give. Advocate. Volunteer. LIVE UNITED.
