The 2018 hurricane season has been extraordinarily active in parts of the U.S., with Hurricane Florence currently impacting millions in the Carolinas. As this natural disaster unfolds, the staff here at VolunteerMatch is doing its part to ensure that, if you are in an affected community, you are prepared and safe. And if you are looking to help with disaster relief efforts, you know about the most effective ways to contribute.
Posh Pets Rescue is a small, all volunteer run 501c3, that saves dogs & cats from shelters, off the streets, & from terrible situations. Posh Pets is currently expanding our Cat Department in Westchester with our Cat Room at PetSmart in Greenburgh, NY. To help us continue our mission of saving lives, we are in need of more local fosters for our cats. If you answer YES to these questions, YOU can FOSTER:
Do you want to save a life? Simply stated - the more foster homes we have, the more lives we can save.. There are many options in fostering but we recommend you start by fostering a healthy, social cat who needs a great home with lots of love until they find their forever home. Perhaps you are experienced with cats who may need some socialization or who may have a medical condition. If so, you can work closely with our Cat Director who will guide you. Fostering can be short term (a few months) or longer. Some cats may just need a break from cubby life at our Petsmart Cat Room while others need a foster home until they get adopted.
Do you have some extra space? Fosters cats don’t require a lot of space. They need a quiet, comfortable place and love & care. A spare bedroom, basement or bathroom are ideal for this until your foster cat finds a forever home. If you have pets in your home, you don’t have to integrate your foster cat but you certainly can. If you want to introduce your foster cat to your current pets, we have expert volunteers that can help guide you.
Are you flexible? We may ask you to bring your foster cat to our adoption events at PetSmart on weekends to help them get exposure. Foster commitments vary depending on the cat. Some cats are quickly adopted while others may take a little longer. No one is perfect & neither are our cats. Some of our cats may need a little extra patience & TLC. Our Cat Director is experienced & well versed with cat health issues & with her guidance, you should be able to handle most situations that may arise. Posh Pets Rescue is funded soley by private donations & our vet bills are very high, so it is important to try some home remedies first.
Every month hundreds of adoptable cats & dogs are in need of new homes. Fostering provides a unique opportunity to help save a life & watch them find a forever home. All of the sacrifices are worth it when you look into the eyes of an animal you helped save.
