About Audubon Arizona:
A part of the City of Phoenix's Rio Salado Habitat Restoration Area, the Nina Mason Pulliam Rio Salado Audubon Center sits on a former dump site, now a reclaimed haven for wildlife and over 200 species of birds in an increasingly urbanized metropolitan area. The Center offers everyone the opportunity to connect to nature and to experience the outdoors year round.
Audubon Arizona Mission:
Our mission is to conserve and restore natural ecosystems focusing on birds, other wildlife, and their habitats for the benefit of humanity and earth's biological diversity.
Purpose:
The Visitor Experience Volunteer is an integral part of the Audubon Arizona team. This volunteer will be the first person guests see as they walk into Audubon and will perform a range of office support functions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Greet guests as they walk in
- Answer guest questions
- Complete daily visitor count and program/tour numbers
- Handle incoming calls, providing prompt responses and forwarding to appropriate staff members when necessary
- Provide administrative support to staff
- Assist with organizing Center and office space
- Management of gift shop including cashiering, organization, and inventory
- Special projects, as assigned by staff members
Qualifications:
- Must present a professional appearance and a friendly manner
- Excellent organizational, written, and verbal skills
- Must be dependable and punctual
- Courteous and personable when assisting guests
- Be willing to take initiative and be detail-oriented
- Computer skills are desired, but not necessary

Description
The Nina Mason Pulliam Rio Salado Audubon Center is a nature center in the heart of the City of Phoenix's Rio Salado Habitat Restoration Area, a 600-acre park along the historic Salt River. Located less than two miles from downtown Phoenix, the Center is a gateway to a lush Sonoran riparian habitat used by over 200 species of birds and other wildlife.
The free admission Center offers interactive exhibits, an interpretive loop trail, connections to the Rio Salado Habitat's sixteen miles of hiking and riding trails and a variety of programs, including beginning birding classes and bird walks, school field trip programs and more. Designed by Weddle Gilmore Architects, the Nina Mason Pulliam Rio Salado Audubon Center is a green building and is expected to be LEED certified. The Center's sustainable features include a photovoltaic system, a waste water recycling system, low water use fixtures, pervious surfaces and bioswales to capture rain and run-off water and energy efficient mechanical and electrical systems.
The Nina Mason Pulliam Rio Salado Audubon Center is the headquarters of the Arizona state office of the National Audubon Society.
