School Based Mentoring and Tutoring Program Make a difference in the life of an at-risk child! What is a Mentor? A mentor is someone who provides, support, reinforcement and friendship while setting a positive example. Mentors are good listeners, and caring individuals who want to help young people reach their potential. What does a Mentor do? Mentors serve as a positive role model. Your core role as a mentor is to create an environment in which your child can grow emotionally and intellectually while also feeling safe and relaxed.

What does a Tutor do? Volunteers will be responsible for tutoring students in a one-on-one or classroom setting.

Tutors will have the option to choose from subjects ranging from math, reading, science, history, and language arts.

Who benefits from our program?

Academically and socially challenged children, Students with low fcat scores, Youth at risk of suspension or dropping out of school OUR COMMUNITY!!!

Volunteer requirements:

Time commitment during the school year: Mentoring- once a week for 30 minutes Tutoring- varies by location

Level 2 background clearance

Must be a patient, caring person who is interested in establishing a supportive relationship with an at-risk student.
