East Central Ministries (ECM) is a holistic, inclusive, faith-based community development organization located in Albuquerque's International District. Our goal is to forge a long-term relationship with our neighborhood and, through education, leadership development, social enterprise, community-building, and responding to community-identified needs, to partner the community to overcome issues of poverty, racism, and marginalization. Our youth programs are designed to nurture and develop leadership skills, primarily of youth living in the International District (though youth from other parts of the city are welcome to participate).
We are seeking volunteers to assist our Children’s Program Coordinator in providing childcare for kids ages 12 and younger while their parents are participating in community activities. Volunteers may also help supervise children participating in classes or activities.
The volunteer commitment would be a minimum of 1 hour per week, preferably for a minimum of 6 weeks. The times when volunteers are needed will depend on the schedule of children’s activities and childcare. Volunteers must also pass a background check and go through a brief training before beginning.
