The Dane County Walk to End Alzheimer's is taking place on Sunday, October 2nd and we are looking for volunteers to join our Planning Committee.

Our next monthly committee meeting is July 18th. Contact Sara Neumann at sneumann@alz.org for more info.

Committee members plan the Walk to End Alzheimer’s from the kick-off to the wrap-up. Some committee members focus on growing the event, like recruiting new teams, covering the community in Walk materials, and securing sponsorships. Others focus on event production and find ways to enhance the event experience.

Are you passionate about putting an end to Alzheimer’s disease? Do you want to get more involved with the Alzheimer’s Association and the Walk to End Alzheimer’s? Then we need you! In order to grow the Walk to End Alzheimer’s, we must continue to enlist and empower more volunteers to help us extend our reach.

The planning committee meets 1x/month for approximately 1.5-2 hours. Additional work of hanging posters or prmotional materials each month would be 3-4 hours.

Mission Statement

To eliminate Alzheimer's disease through the advancement of research; to provide and enhance care and support for all affected; and to reduce the risk of dementia through the promotion of brain health.

Description

In 1979, Jerome H. Stone and representatives from several family support groups met with the National Institute on Aging to explore the value of a national, independent, nonprofit organization to complement federal efforts surrounding Alzheimer's disease. That meeting resulted in the April 10, 1980, formation of the Alzheimer's Association with Mr. Stone as founding president.

Today, the Association reaches millions of people affected by Alzheimer’s across the globe through our national office and chapters in communities nationwide. We are the world’s leading voluntary health organization in Alzheimer’s care, support and research.
