Come join us for an afternoon on the Duwamish River, where we will be focusing on restoring the health of the River's shoreline!
At the Duwamish Shoreline, we will be planting willows and tackling some invasive weeds along the bank of the River, and spreading mulch in hopes of keeping this habitat happy and healthy! We’ll have a great view of an osprey nest and some occasional otter and bunny sightings while we work next to the river. This is a great way to give back to your local community, and is also an awesome opportunity to meet some new faces, to get your hands dirty, and to get outside and connect with the Green-Duwamish River!
Restoration training, tools and gloves will also be provided. No experience necessary, so make sure to bring along your friends, family, and neighbors!
What to bring: Please dress for the weather because we will be working rain or shine! Boots or comfortable athletic shoes, work clothes, appropriate layers for rain and sun. Volunteers should also bring a refillable water bottle.

Mission Statement
Forterra's mission is to act with immediacy to protect, enhance and steward our region's most precious resources--its communities and its landscapes. Since 1989, we have been working toward a future in which our children and grandchildren can experience nature in and around our urban environments.
Description
Forterra conserves land by working with individuals, companies and local governments. We strive to maximize the ecological value of land, while meeting the needs of landowners. We may accept land as a donation, purchase it, or transfer it to public ownership. We often serve as a broker to identify and negotiate the most effective ownership to protect important lands. We establish conservation easements to preserve special features. For each and every property, we explore available strategies or create new ones to provide permanent protection. Forterra has established a Conservation Agenda for our region, with specific priorities and methods for each type of landscape. Current initiatives include the protection of working forests on the foothills of the Cascades, and the creation of salmon sanctuaries along our region's highest quality rivers and streams.
