ORGANIZATION: Partnership Toward Nonprofit Success Incorporated

The Board will support the work of Partnership Toward Nonprofit Success (PTNS) and provide mission-based leadership and strategic governance. While day-to-day operations are led by PTNS' chief executive officer (CEO), the Board-CEO/President relationship is a partnership, and the appropriate involvement of the Board is both critical and expected. Specific Board Member responsibilities include:

Leadership, governance and oversight
  • Serving as a trusted advisor to the President as s/he develops and implements PTNS' strategic plan
  • Reviewing outcomes and metrics created by PTNS for evaluating its impact, and regularly measuring its performance and effectiveness using those metrics; reviewing agenda and supporting materials prior to board and committee meetings
  • Approving PTNS' annual budget, audit reports, and material business decisions; being informed of, and meeting all, legal and fiduciary responsibilities
  • Contributing to an annual performance evaluation of the president and other board memebers
  • Assisting the President in identifying and recruiting other Board Members
  • Partnering with the President and other board members to ensure that board resolutions are carried out
  • Serving on committees or task forces and taking on special assignments
  • Representing PTNS to stakeholders; acting as an ambassador for the organization
  • Ensuring PTNS' commitment to a diverse board and staff that reflects the communities PTNS' serves
Fundraising

PTNS' Board Members will consider PTNS a philanthropic priority and make annual gifts that reflect that priority. So that PTNS can credibly solicit contributions from foundations, organizations, and individuals, PTNS expects to have 100 percent of Board Members make an annual contribution that is commensurate with their capacity.

Board terms/participation

PTNS' Board Members will serve a three-year term to be eligible for re-appointment for one additional term. Board meetings will be held quarterly and committee meetings will be held in coordination with full board meetings.

Qualifications

This is an extraordinary opportunity for an individual who is passionate about PTNS' mission and who has a track record of board leadership. Selected Board Members will have achieved leadership stature in business, government, philanthropy, or the nonprofit sector. His/her accomplishments will allow him/her to attract other well-qualified, high-performing Board Members.

Description

Partnership Toward Nonprofit Success (PTNS) is a 501 c 3 nonprofit that is a multi-purpose human and family service organization and fiscally sponsors nonprofits and projects in the Atlanta Metropolitan area that caters to education, homelessness, domestic violence, etc (e.g., anything that is human services). We only help fiscally sponsor nonprofits and projects that qualifies under the 501 c 3 code.

PTNS will help 5 projects a year. PTNS will operate under a class c fiscal sponsorship. PTNS other programs will cater to homeless prevention, financial assistance, drug abuse, higher education, domestic violenc, bullying, and crisis stabilization.

PTNS will assist 5 struggling families in need by providing living accommodations (e.g., financial assistance) until the families can get on their feet in the Atlanta Metropolitan area. PTNS will not give funding to families, but will pay families' bills directly. PTNS will provide other necessities such as food, clothing, transportation fare to their jobs. PTNS' was established by Mario Mitchell who witnessed many families in the Atlanta Metropolitan area face financial crisis and began assisting families.
