Purpose: Support residents through issuing safety equipment and providing all necessary paperwork and safety training, while they work to make a cleaner community and neighborhood.

Duties: Safely remove litter from the roadway shoulder and shallow ditchlines while conforming to the required safety dress code, e.g. retro-reflective safety vest, orange hat and gloves.

Goals: Reduce amount of litter on the roadways. Volunteers will submit activity forms monthly or as activity proceeds

Training: A safety orientation and issuing of safety equipment will commence once the agreement is complete and on file. The Adopt-A-Road Coordinator will be the volunteer's point of contact.

Time Commitment: The volunteer agreement is for a duration of 2 years with a commitment of litter removal activities 2 times per year.

Qualifications: Volunteers must be in relatively good health.

Benefits: The volunteer is empowered with a sense of pride and ownership for their neighborhood and community. Light is then shed, for more individuals, on the social and environmental implications of litter and illegal dumping.
