ORGANIZATION: Olmsted Medical Center

Patient companions will emotionally support and comfort patients and their families through listening, being present, and responding to their needs with compassion and care. Some of the duties include visiting with patients and listening, straightening up patients rooms to create a more healing environment, and making sure patients have everything they need utilizing the "caring cart."

NOTE: Companions are neither mental health professionals nor medical doctors. While volunteers can actively listen and empathize, they cannot provide advice nor any service that can be misconstrued as therapy.
