Helpline Receptionist
Are you a good listener? Join our helpline team - improve the lives of children and adults living with mental illnesses, and their families, by providing information and support.
Take a shift at the front desk in our lovely new NAMI Minnesota office! Our receptionists greet visitors, answer phone calls /take messages, and connect guests/callers to NAMI Minnesota's resources and programs. They may also help complete clerical/administrative tasks as time allows.
Two-hour shifts are available Monday through Friday between 9:00AM and 5:00PM. Candidates must be willing to commit to a regular weekly schedule, and serve for a minimum of six months.
*Alternately, On-Call Receptionists agree to cover 4 or more hours of open shifts monthly; selecting open/available shifts and signing-up directly utilizing our shared google calendar.
Candidates must be able to effectively use the internet and be comfortable with a multi-line phone system and basic PC computer software (Microsoft Office). They must also have good oral and written communication skills. Our Help-line is NOT a crisis line, it helps connect callers to NAMI Support Groups, Classes, and Resources and points people in the direction of other community resources and direct services. Training is provided. A willingness to learn and good interpersonal skills are all that is needed.
We would be especially grateful for any fluent bilingual volunteers - especially those that speak Spanish.

Mission Statement
NAMI Minnesota's mission is to champion justice, dignity, and respect for all people affected by mental illness. Description
NAMI Minnesota is a statewide grassroots organization dedicated to improving the lives of people living with mental illnesses and their families through educational programming, peer-led support, community outreach, and legislative advocacy.
All our programming is based on a peer-to-peer model, and we're always looking for individuals who have participated in our programs to join us as support group facilitators or help teach our curriculum. We are also regularly recruiting volunteers for our outreach and advocacy efforts, special events, and to help with various facets of non-profit administration.
Most NAMI program volunteers are trained and placed through the state office, and supported by their local affiliates, to fulfill their placements within their local communities.
NAMI also offers various unpaid internships in the fields of non-profit management and public policy.
NAMI does not offer direct services.
