Are you a good listener and wish to help others find resources? Join our reception team and serve at the front desk at the NAMI Minnesota state office! Our receptionists greet visitors, answer phone calls and take messages, and connect callers to NAMI Minnesota's resources and programs. They also help complete clerical/administrative tasks as time allows.
Candidates must be able to effectively use the internet and be comfortable with a multi-line phone system and basic PC computer software (Microsoft Office). They must also have good oral and written communication skills. Our Help-line is NOT a crisis line, it helps connect callers to NAMI Support Groups, Classes, and Resources and points people in the direction of other community resources and direct services. Training is provided. A willingness to learn and good interpersonal skills are all that is needed.
Two-hour shifts are available Monday through Friday between 9:00AM and 5:00PM. Candidates must be willing to commit to a regular weekly schedule and serving for a minimum of six months. * Alternately, On-Call Receptionists agree to cover 4 or more hours of open shifts monthly; selecting open/available shifts and signing-up directly utilizing our shared google calendar.
* We would be especially grateful for any fluent bilingual volunteers - especially those that speak Spanish.
