Volunteers are needed to care for cats awaiting adoption in the Petsmart adoption center. These volunteers clean cages, change bedding, refresh water and food, scoop litter boxes, take out trash, sweep and mop the floor, brush, pet and give lots of love to the cats. Cats are typically let out of their cage for exercise while the cage is being cleaned, The volunteer should be comfortable with retrieving the cat and placing it back in the cage. There are 8-10 cages in the adoption center.
The volunteer must be a mature, responsible adult who is able to work independently and is comfortable handling cats. Good judgement is needed as some cats are fearful or stressed when they come into the adoption center.
We are in need of one volunteer for every Monday and another for every Thursday, to arrive between 2 pm and 6 pm.
This job will require 1-2 hours of your time, the same day every week. Training will be provided on your first day; then you will work alone. This is an ongoing position with no definite end date - stay with us as long as you like.
All HHAS volunteers are part of the team and are welcome to attend volunteer meetings and events.
Happy Home Animal Sanctuary's adoption center is inside Petsmart, 9869 S Eastern Av, in the Target shopping center.

Happy Home Animal Sanctuary is a no-kill, no-cage, non-profit organization dedicated to saving the lives of abandoned and homeless cats and dogs. Our goal is to protect the welfare of the animals and to promote the humane treatment and well-being of these animals by: Providing shelter and care for stray or abandoned animals in foster homes until they are adopted, and actively promoting suitable adoptions of the animals. If adoption isn’t possible, the sanctuary provides a lifetime refuge for these animals. Responding with personal commitment, humane sensitivity, compassion, and technical skill to the needs of these animals. Spaying and neutering dogs and cats to ensure the numbers of unwanted animals is kept to a minimum. Managing feral cat colonies with trapping, neutering, and returning of feral cats. Helping to prevent cruelty to animals by promoting animal welfare legislation and public education.
Description
Happy Home Animal Sanctuary stands apart from other animal rescue organizations. We rescue as many cats and dogs as possible with no time limit for adoption. The animals stay in foster homes, in the adoption center at Petsmart, or at the sanctuary as long as it takes to find them a home, or for the rest of their lives. The sanctuary is in a remote, peaceful desert location. Our wonderful foster homes are all over Southern Nevada. We hold adoption hours each weekend at the Petsmart located on Eastern Av at Silverado Ranch Rd.
We are an all-volunteer organization and rely solely on adoption fees, donations and the generosity of cat and dog lovers to continue our efforts. Volunteers and/or donations are always appreciated. We have been happily serving the Southern Nevada area since 1997.
Adoption hours are 11 AM to 4 PM every Saturday and Sunday at Petsmart, 9869 S Eastern Av, Las Vegas, Nevada. Adoptable dogs and cats can also be seen on Petfinder.com and on our web site.
