Riverside County- RSVP and Volunteer Connect Volunteer Programs

ZooTeen commitments include but are not limited to:

  • A full year of service
  • 12 hours per month of interpretation
  • Participating in special events throughout the year
  • One week-long session of Summer Zoo Camp

**After the fulfillment of one year of service, ZooTeens who have demonstrated a strong desire to grow and lead will be invited back to continue with the second year of service in a leadership role. In this role ZooTeens expand their experience with animal handling and other roles within the program.

What do ZooTeens do?

ZooTeens receive a comprehensive education, which they share every shift. Their breadth of knowledge will span from the very perfection of a hummingbird’s wings, to our participation in Species Survival Plans, which impact endangered species around the globe. This is not all inclusive as ZooTeen grow in the program they are given more opportunities to grow and learn.

ZooTeen Commitment:

To proudly represent The Living Desert to the community and to use your time and talents to carry out the mission statement of The Living Desert: "Desert conservation through preservation, education and appreciation." You have a unique opportunity to interact with the public, enabling them to appreciate desert habitats all over the world while taking in a comprehensive conservation education.
