About

Volunteer in your community and set your own schedule! JourneyCare is looking for volunteers to serve at our Hospice CareCenter in Chicago.

This is an acute care setting where we offer several unique roles for volunteers:

  • CNA Assist Volunteers are paired with a Certified Nursing Assistant and help with a patient's "activities of daily living," such as feeding, bathing, changing linens, etc. Specialized training is provided to help prepare volunteers to provide this tender care to our patients.
  • Hospitality Volunteers assist JourneyCare staff with clerical tasks such as answering phones and call lights, faxing important documents, providing tours of the hospice unit, and so on.
  • Care Companions visit with patients and families and provide an extra layer of support through simple conversation, playing a game, watching television, etc. They also help with re-stocking and other light duties around the unit.

Each of these roles was intentionally designed to meet needs of our patients, families and staff members, even the smallest act can have a big impact. The Care Center is open 24/7 and shifts are typically 3 hours. Your schedule can be set or flexible.
