Survey Administration Volunteer- Downtown MPLS (HSB)

ORGANIZATION: Hennepin County Health and Human Services Department

Purpose: Provide to and collect from clients, the HSPH departmental uSPEQ customer input survey (CIS). The uSPEQ CIS is a customer feedback tool that provides information about how clients perceive the services they receive from us. Training will be provided and includes guides and standard operating procedures.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Collect blank surveys, pens, clipboards, and batch forms from the 7 th floor at HSB.
  • Approach clients and provide the uSPEQ survey.
  • Collect and place completed surveys in the "To be Reviewed" box on the 7 th floor at HSB.
  • Complete batch forms.
  • Request blank surveys be printed as needed.

Requirements:

  • Positive attitude with exceptional customer service skills
  • Experience working with and serving diverse populations
  • Good listening and communication skills
  • The ability to establish and maintain appropriate boundaries with staff and clients, and maintain client confidentiality
  • Ability to follow direction and attention to details
  • Ability to act professionally, representing Hennepin County
  • Volunteers may use bi-lingual skills to help visitors communicate their needs to the staff - Somali, and/or Spanish are helpful but not required.
  • Volunteers must by fluent in conversational and written English.
  • Volunteer must complete the application, interview and orientation process, provide at least 1 reference, pass a background check, attend training program, and adhere to department policies.
  • A volunteer must be a minimum age of 18 years.

Time Commitment:

  • We require a 2-4 hour time block, one time per week. (Preferred day is Monday)
  • We ask for a 3 month commitment to this volunteer role.

Supervision: The volunteer will be supported by the Quality Assurance Administrator, along with the coordinator of volunteers will supervise this role.

  • Volunteers can be reimbursed monthly for related transportation/parking expenses within allowable limits by completing a report form.
  • Human Services training opportunities are available at no cost.
  • A letter of recommendation can be written on request after completion of the minimum time commitment.

Description

The work of our Department tends to fall into three major areas:

  1. Increasing safety and stability of individuals and families through services such as child and adult protection, providing temporary emergency shelter, and more.
  2. Promoting self-reliance and a livable income through a mixture of federal and state programs, such as SNAP (food support), Child Support, Veterans' Service, cash assistance programs and more.
  3. Improving the health of the community through public health care programs, restaurant inspections, regulating emergency medical services, providing crisis response to behavioral health emergencies, immunization services, a public health clinic, and more.
