We are seeking current university students or recent graduates as mentor/tutors to at-risk struggling/failing middle school students who are in need of individual support to help them succeed academically. Our nonprofit charity's SEA (Successful Educational Achievement) Program aims to help the students we serve reach a brighter future. We only serve those who could not otherwise afford this much needed help.

Mentoring requires a commitment of one hour, twice weekly per student. You can choose to work with one or more students, depending on your availability. The average time block in which you can mentor is listed in this posting. Note that mentoring days/times vary by site.

All our mentors are trained prior to commencing. Our focus is academic improvement, however it is also critical to develop a caring rapport with the student, so they feel they have an ally in working towards being the best student they can be.

Areas where we currently need mentors: Oxnard, Thousand Oaks, Malibu, Santa Monica, Westchester, Culver City, South Los Angeles and Pico Rivera.

Note that depending on the geographic site, the candidate can choose the days/times (Monday - Friday) that work for them, typically between the hours of 3:30 - 6:30 pm. You can choose which days to work for one hour, twice weekly.

Please note: we are an after-school program, which is why our hours of operation fall in the timeframe noted above. Some of our school sites have an "early out" on a specific day, which means mentoring can begin earlier on that day.
