MEALTIME COMPANIONSHIP PROGRAM

The Brookdale University Hospital Medical Center is looking for caring people to join their "Mealtime Companionship Program".

The program enables volunteers to assist patients who are either unable to feed themselves or require some assist to do so. Volunteers have an opportunity to provide social contact, companionship and stimulation during meals which may also aide the patient’s progress. Requirements: Volunteer must be at least 21 years of age, mature, ability to follow directions and have good communication skills. In addition to completing all Brookdale Hospital Volunteer Services requirements such as medical & drug clearance, background check, provide toe professional references (name, email address and relationship to applicant needed - NOT FRIENDS OR FAMILY MEMBERS) and orientation. The Mealtime Companionship Program requires completion of training program specific to program and passing a competency test. Qualified candidates must be available to accompany patients between 8am-10am for breakfast, 12pm-2pm for lunch and /or 5pm-7pm for dinner. Volunteers can choose the day(s) and shift they would like to work. A minimum of 2 two hour shifts a week is required.
