HELPFUL SPOONS VOLUNTEER PATIENT FEEDING PROGRAM

The Brookdale University Hospital Medical Center is looking for caring people to join their "Helpful Spoons Patient Feeding Program".

The program enables volunteers to assist patients who are either unable to feed themselves or require some assist to do so. Volunteers have an opportunity to provide social contact, companionship and stimulation during meals which may also aide the patient’s progress. Requirements: Volunteer must be at least 21 years of age, mature, ability to follow directions and have good communication skills. In addition to completing all Brookdale Hospital Volunteer Services requirements such as medical, drug test, background check and orientation, the Helpful Spoons Volunteer Feeding Program requires completion of our feeder training program and passing a competency test. Qualified candidates must be available to feed between 8am-10am for breakfast, 12pm-2pm for lunch and /or 5pn-7pm for dinner. Volunteers can choose the day(s) and shift they would like to work. A minimum of 2 two hour shifts a week is required.
