ORGANIZATION: Ronald McDonald House Charities, Upper Midwest

We, in partnership with our community, provide a comfortable and caring home-away-from-home that supports keeping families together and reduces stress during a child’s serious illness.

Building Services volunteers will work very closely with our maintenance staff to complete facility repairs and upkeep tasks. The tasks are assigned based on the volunteers abilities and may include electrical work, HVAC periodic maintenance and filter changes, carpentry, home repairs, painting, tile work, plumbing, appliance repair and replacement and other tasks associated with keeping our Oak Street facilities in good repair.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Work closely with Facilities Manager and Facilities Assistant to identify work orders/tasks
  2. Complete assigned tasks with minimal intrusion into guest family’s needs
  3. Communicate availability to RMHC staff to ensure work will be prepared and absences are known

Description

We provide a warm and welcoming community of support and respite for families with seriously-ill or injured children. Across our five locations, we welcome 76 families each night for overnight services, as well as hundreds of day-visitors. Services include:

  • Lodging
  • Meals
  • Kitchen access and fully-stocked pantries
  • Laundry facilities
  • An accredited K-12 school
  • Workout facilities
  • Supportive, family-focused programming

We take care of all these things so families can focus on the well-being of their child.
