Our patients sometimes need someone to stay with them so they don't die alone. Families become exhausted and just need to go home to their own beds or get a hot shower or walk the dog. Our volunteers who provide vigil go through extensive on-line training toward becoming a homecare volunteer and then additional training for vigil volunteering. Bedside vigil provides a greatly needed service to the patient and families during their final hours. Daytime and nighttime shifts are needed, but you choose your availability.
