Our Peer to Peer volunteering for veterans allows veterans to help their fellow veterans during sessions. At BraveHearts we have the largest veteran program in the nation using equine-assisted activities. Veterans can assist as a sidewalker or leader durings sessions. Please contact our volunteer coordinator for more information about peer to peer support.

Mission Statement
To provide equine-assisted activities and therapies with teams of expert staff, dedicated volunteers and therapy horses at multiple safe and caring facilities. In addition to serving children and adults, BraveHearts provides innovative services to meet the needs of our military veterans and their families. By utilizing a faculty of national experts, BraveHearts is a center of excellence within the therapeutic industry through its unique efforts in programming, education and research.
Description
BraveHearts is proud to be recognized as a Premier Accredited Center with PATH, Intl at both the Harvard and Poplar Grove locations.
BraveHearts provides therapeutic horseback riding, hippotherapy, therapeutic carriage driving, foundation horsemanship, a large and comprehensive program for military veterans and Gold Star families and retreats. It is currently the largest veterans' therapeutic riding program in the nation.
Therapeutic riding has provided social, educational, and recreational opportunities to individuals with disabilities for more than a century. This unique form of therapy utilizes the special bond between humans and horses, and benefits students of all ability levels both inside and out.
Therapeutic riding encourages improvements in:
- strength, balance and range of motion
- posture
- self esteem
- cognition
- independence
