A one hour, no obligation, orientation session will be held on September 13th at 9:30am or 7:00pm at the Pennington United Methodist Church, 60 South Main Street, Pennington. There is a choice of morning and evening courses which teach compassionate listening skills, telephone crisis intervention, suicide prevention and much more. Representatives from community programs will speak on a variety of topics. Taking this course is a great way to become a better listener and help other people at the same time.
Fall 2016 Class (#86) will meet weekly in the office building behind the Pennington United Methodist Church --- 60 South Main Street Pennington, NJ 08534
Classes are open to anyone age 18 or older who is motivated to help others. Upon satisfactory completion of training, each trainee is expected to volunteer at least 100 hours in the first year to qualify for free training. The course is free with the understanding that the trainee must volunteer 100 hours within one year of completing the course. For those who wish to take the training for personal growth, without the obligation to volunteer, the fee for the course is $150.00.
College students are encouraged to enroll in training. It may be possible to get college credit for internships on the HOTLINE by arrangement with college professors.
