Families to Freedom is looking for volunteers willing to use their language skills to translate for Spanish hotline callers who are victims or new survivors of abuse. Our nonprofit provides transportation for victims of domestic abuse to get to emergency shelter, and for shelter survivors to leave for family far away. We also assist with safety planning and provide referrals to other service providers. As our volunteer translator, this amazing person would work in collaboration with our Hotline Advocate team on calls when the need arises. The ideal candidate should be interested in assisting victims and new survivors of violence, have an understanding of challenges that women and victims face in society, willing to learn about domestic violence issues as part of training, and have fluent conversational Spanish and English proficiency. While this is a virtual opportunity open to anyone located in the US, our hotline hours are open from 8:00am until 5:00pm Monday through Friday Central Time. Our need for Spanish to English translation during a call would be unscheduled and requested on short notice.

Orientation and training can be conducted virtually or in-person at our Addison, TX office.
Our mission is transport victims of domestic abuse to safety.
Families to Freedom provides free transportation services to victims and their children who have experienced domestic abuse. We make it possible for victims and new survivors to get far away from abusive relationships. Our life-saving services include car rides to domestic violence shelters across North Texas, road trips to family homes in other states, multi-state bus tickets, and fuel assistance to relocate far away. We serve shelter survivors across North Texas as well as hotline callers not yet in a safe place.
