Helping to provide free tax returns for working families in need!

CEO is looking for community member to help Prepare Taxes for Low-Income individuals and families!

Income tax filing is required of almost every individual or family in every community and city across the United States, but many families battle new challenges each day-ranging from the affordability of groceries and school supplies to the rising costs of bills and rent. Few can manage the added expense of a paid tax preparer to help file for each and every refund available to them. That's why CEO offers the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) Program to provide low and moderate-income individuals and families, immigrants, non-English speakers, seniors, and self-employed individuals access to accurate, professional tax preparation services at no cost.

No past tax preparation or accounting experience is necessary, though we do encourage those professional accountants and those pursuing related degrees to volunteer. New volunteers are required to attend training and complete an online course and test that will certify you as a volunteer tax preparer through the IRS Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) Program.

We can't wait to have your help!

Mission Statement

Our Mission CEO creates partnerships and develops opportunities for social and economic growth and empowerment in individuals, families and communities.

Description

CEO is a non-profit Community Action Agency that serves the residents of Rensselaer County and the surrounding Capital Region. We serve as a conduit -- a way to connect people with resources related to employment, education, housing, youth programming, early childhood education, and daycare. When people are dealing with obstacles presented by poverty, they turn to CEO. Through the agency's centralized intake -- a one stop approach --individuals and families are considered for several services and programs simultaneously. CEO, the Board of Directors and our staff remain committed to advocating for a community that allows each individual to achieve economic independence.
