Be a POWERFUL FORCE for good in your community starting today! It just takes ten minutes to get started and you can change the world with just an hour or two a week. There is no set schedule for visits! You schedule what works for you and your new friend who is blind. It's so easy to pick up some groceries or socks when you are out buying your own groceries, sort their junk mail, read the important things and shred the rest, help organize their junk drawer or just go out for coffee. It is so easy and you will LOVE it!
Requirements to be a great volunteer include:
a desire to help others;
a pleasant demeanor;
a good reading/speaking voice;
average reading skills;
organizational or planning abilities;
a good driving record;
a clear criminal history;
two references
access to a car with proof of insurance;
a minimum of $50/100k liability and $5,000 of property damage coverage.
Volunteers will be matched within three to five miles of home or work.
