Tutors Needed for Adult Learners in Your Community
TASC Connect! links adults who are ready to work towards their high school equivalency diploma with the information, resources, and personal support they need to meet that goal. The program provides: (1) orientations that explain the exam and the ways to prepare for it, (2) guidance to help students plan their next steps, (3) tutoring for those who can commit a few hours each week to independent study, and (4) ad hoc assistance in any subject at two walk-in sites or by contacting an exam support line.
This library-based program is unique in that it works to explain options and requirements for meeting this important educational goal, with special emphasis on resources available for free, independent self-study. The program then offers in-depth support to adults who are unable to participate in traditional classes and/or who need focused one-to-one support.
In 2016, we are expanding to offer service around the county, including support at several walk-in centers. New tutor trainings take place throughout the year. As a tutor you hare supported with resources and an instructional plan.
Bi-lingual tutors are especially needed in several locations. If you can dedicate 2-3 hours per week. please contact Barbara or Brenda at TASC@wlsmail.org.
