Tutors Needed for Adult Learners in Your Community

HSE Connect! links adults who are ready to work towards their high school equivalency diploma with the information, resources, and personal support they need to meet that goal. We seek tutors who are patient and flexible - two qualities essential to support our students. Tutors must also be comfortable using online resources and be able to commute to a local public library.

Prospective tutors are given a skills assessment so they can be confident of where they need to brush-up on reading and math topics so they can support adult students working at middle and high school skill levels. We provide study resources and tutoring strategies, as well as support through the tutoring engagement.

There are a few steps to becoming a tutor:

  1. Attend a Program Overview.

  2. Take a skills assessment test and complete an application.

  3. Attend a Tutoring Skills session. (Tutoring assignment generally follows within a few weeks.)

  4. Continue your learning at Tutor Toolkit sessions held during the course of the year.

If you can dedicate 2-3 hours per week, make a difference with us.
