Danforth Chapel
Dignity Health staff enjoy volunteering on campus as a group twice a year.

The Adopt -A -Mall Program is patterned after the popular Adopt-A-Highway program used in many states across the country, including Arizona. It allows for groups and organizations to volunteer to assist the ASU Clean & Beautiful Campaign Committee and Facilities Management in their efforts to clean up our campus and help keep it looking spotless.

This program is open to community service groups or organizations that would like to adopt a specific zone on campus for 1 year. This is a very flexible program, your organization can schedule the days and times to go pick up litter and cigarette butts in your adopted area. Gloves, trash bags and a limited number of litter grabbers are provided. Your group is also welcomed to set up a "sandwich" board to advertise your organization as you are working on campus.

Mall adoptions will expire annually and groups or organizations will need to re-apply for the desired mall section by September 30th of each year.

About The Arboretum at Arizona State University

Location:

1551 S. Rural Rd., Tempe, AZ 85287, US

Mission Statement

Arboretum Grounds Services: To create a natural environment where the public can enjoy an interactive garden that welcomes them to the ASU community. Arboretum Community Volunteers : Our mission as Arboretum Community Volunteers is to improve, maintain and harvest the ASU Arboretum gardens and support green initiatives and sustainable grounds keeping practices.

Description

The Arboretum at ASU serves the people of Arizona by providing access to information and experiences with plants in the setting of an educational public garden. It has an extensive date palm collection of over 400 specimens and 56 cultivars recognized by the North American Plant Collections Consortium (NAPCC) of the American Association of Botanical Gardens. The American Association of Botanical Gardens and Arboreta (AABGA) officially recognized this collection as the principle public garden collection of date palms in North America. Included on the main campus is the conifer collection, citrus collection, tropical plant displays, native plant and cactus, roses, the Desert Arboretum Park, and Herb Garden.

The Arboretum/Grounds Services is in the process of changing its traditional methods and equipment of grounds keeping. Many common tasks have been scrutinized for energy efficiency and environmental concerns and new sustainable solutions have been proposed and implemented.
