Position Summary

Volunteers working in this position will work alongside TROSA residents at the TROSA Thrift Store. Volunteers will primarily be sorting, cleaning, hanging and pricing clothing. Volunteers may also assist with sales floor merchandising and researching pricing for unusual items.

Duties and Responsibilities
 Volunteers will work alongside TROSA residents assigned to the clothing production department at the TROSA Thrift Store.
 Donated clothing will be inspected for rips, tears, stains or other imperfections
 Some items will clearly be unsellable and will be set aside to sell as rags
 Some items may be set aside as a bargain table item
 Some items will clearly be of value and should be sorted by color for washing
 Some items may be questionable-check with a TROSA resident
 Check to see if the item is needed for the TROSA Program. There will be a list of needed items available, or you can always check with the Production Crew Boss if there are any questions about what is needed in the Program.
 Wash, dry and hang or fold clothing using our industrial washers and dryers.
 Once items are cleaned, they need to be sorted by type of clothing, sized, priced and hung. Once a rack is full, it will be inventoried and brought to the sales floor.
 Volunteers with experience and expertise in retail clothing sales may advise residents.
 Volunteers may be asked to help hang and arrange merchandise on the sales floor.
 Volunteers may be asked to help pull items that have been on the floor for over 8 weeks.
 Volunteers may be asked to assist in researching an appropriate price for an item.

Knowledge, Skills and Credentials
 This position requires the ability to lift items up to 10 pounds
 This position requires the ability to stand on your feet for long periods of time
 Must be able to work with people of diverse backgrounds
 Ability to distinguish between men’s, women’s, juniors, children’s and infant sizes
 Experience in retail clothing sales is a plus
