Summary: We need a teacher to teach a summer school preparatory class (in Malawi) for students entering secondary school to prepare them for their entrance examinations. You would conduct a three or four week summer school for these students to reinforce their skills in English, Math, and Science. Time frame: 3 to 4 weeks in July/August. This is a support-raising position.Responsibilities:

  • Daily teaching of English, Math, and Science classes at a junior high or high school level.
  • Daily lesson planning.
  • Assessment and reporting as required by in-country staff and COTN-International.
Skills and Qualifications:
  • Agree with and sign COTN’s Statement of Faith.
  • Bachelor's Degree in education.
  • Teaching experience.
  • Good communication skills, able to effectively capture and convey ideas and communicate well cross-culturally.
  • Experience with and ability to work in flexible cross-cultural environment.
  • Patient, humble, teachable spirit.
  • Emotionally stable and mature.
  • Spiritually mature, honest, and transparent.
  • Sensitivity to people.
  • Organizational skills.
  • Passion for each child to reach his or her fullest potential.
  • Commitment to Christ with a servant’s heart.

Description

Children of the Nations (COTN) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to raising children who transform nations. Founded in 1995, the organization currently provides holistic care to orphaned and destitute children in Sierra Leone, Malawi, Uganda,Liberia, Haiti, and the Dominican Republic. By partnering with nationals, they establish full-care residential Children's Homes (for orphans) and Village Partnership Programs (to benefit orphans and children living with destitute families or caregivers who are unable to properly provide for them). Children of the Nations believes that true, lasting, and meaningful change to a nation begins with the children, and so they are their mission.
