Summary: COTN seeks a Construction Coordinator to oversee and help construct our Secondary School in Malawi for up to 12 months. This is an in-country, support-raising position. Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate with the local construction team and with sub-contractors
  • Transfer construction skills to national staff
  • Oversee materials and supplies, ensuring their use according to local and COTN standards
  • Ensure safe and stable construction
  • Report progress to COTN-Malawi Country Director and International Construction Manager
Skills and Qualifications:
  • Experience with housing or commercial construction projects, preferably in supervisory role
  • Knowledge of masonry, framing, electrical, foundation, plumbing
  • Good communication skills
  • Architectural knowledge, particularly ability to read building plans (but not mandatory)
  • Ability to work in flexible environment
  • Patience

Description

Children of the Nations (COTN) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to raising children who transform nations. Founded in 1995, the organization currently provides holistic care to orphaned and destitute children in Sierra Leone, Malawi, Uganda,Liberia, Haiti, and the Dominican Republic. By partnering with nationals, they establish full-care residential Children's Homes (for orphans) and Village Partnership Programs (to benefit orphans and children living with destitute families or caregivers who are unable to properly provide for them). Children of the Nations believes that true, lasting, and meaningful change to a nation begins with the children, and so they are their mission.
