General Construction Volunteers tackle a variety of tasks on Kitsap Habitat construction sites to help build decent, affordable homes for our neighbors in need.
Duties include:
- working on construction relates tasks
- following safety guidelines
- reporting directly to site supervisor
- having fun making a difference!
We work Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday from 8:30am to 3:00pm. During Blitz weeks we work Monday - Saturday with the same hours. Being at the site by 8:30 am is important because the day begins with an overview of the day's goals and safety instructions. Come as often as you like. We can use all the help we can get! We just ask all volunteers to commit to working the full day.
Volunteers receive direction and support from the supervisors and crew chiefs. Though we can provide some essential tools, we ask that if you have some tools you think are useful, bring them!
Volunteers should have passion and enthusiasm for Kitsap Habitat's mission, a desire and willingness to learn. Must also attend an orientation and sign a Release and Waiver of Liability before working on a build site.
No prior construction experience necessary!

Description
Make a Difference in Your Community!
The Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) provides opportunities for people 55 and over to make a difference in their community through volunteer service. RSVP volunteers contribute anywhere from a few to over forty hours a week, serving through schools, day care centers, police departments, hospitals and other nonprofit and public organizations to help meet critical community needs. RSVP offers maximum flexibility and choice to its volunteers. RSVP matches the personal interests and skills of older Americans with opportunities to help solve community problems and offers supplemental insurance while on duty, and on-the-job training from the agency or organization where volunteers are placed.
