Community Event

Since Hurricane Katrina, all levels of government operate under a national framework of shared responsibility called Whole Community. The Whole Community framework recognizes that when disaster strikes, the initial services provided may not come from government, but rather from community organizations, churches, synagogues, mosques and other faith-based organizations.

We need volunteers to help contact community organizations, churches, synagogues, mosques and other faith-based organizations across Riverside and San Bernardino Counties along with the services they can provide before, during and after a disaster.

About Building Resilient Communities

Location:

301 9TH ST STE 303, REDLANDS, CA 92374, US

Mission Statement

Building Resilient Communities advocates and provides disaster preparedness education, resources, and tools. We strive to mitigate systemic disparities that are based on climate conditions, environmental impacts, racial bias, and economic conditions that cause people to be disadvantaged and vulnerable in times of disaster.

Description

Building Resilient Communities is headquartered in the City of Redlands and we operate across Riverside and San Bernardino counties. We provide training and resources on disaster preparedness, response and recovery to small businesses, youth, houses of worship and nonprofits. Our goal to help communities be more resilient in times of disaster. We work directly with the community through community events, live and online training workshops and social media. We collaborate with local to federal government as well as other nonprofits to provide factual information, tools, and resources where needed. We have trained over 1000 K-12th graders on disaster preparedness. We've helped hundreds of houses of worship prepare their facilities, staff and congregants so they are better prepared to help in their surrounding communities. We lead teams to help in the community when a disaster does strike. We continue to help with COVID-19 response, including distributing 100,000+ disposable face masks since 2/2022.
