VOLUNTEER POSITION: Social Media Stars
The Starfish Foundation is seeking several short-term social media volunteers
to create content for our primary social media channels. This is a great
opportunity for anyone with social media experience-- or an interest in
developing social media and design skills-- who would like to support Ecuadorian
youth on the path to a better future!
LOCATION: FLEXIBLE. The Starfish Foundation's U.S. operations are based in
Baltimore, MD but location of the volunteer is flexible. Communication will
occur over email, so applicants should have a current address they check
regularly.
VOLUNTEER RESPONSIBILITITES:
Develop an understanding of the mission, vision, values and goals of The
Starfish Foundation.
Create content for our primary social media channels, Facebook, Instagram and
Twitter using our weekly hashtags, creating posts for a particular series, and development goals. Additionally, you will be asked to create content for Instagram and Facebook Stories.
Submit content to the Starfish Mixed Media Team.
SKILLS NEEDED:
A passion for education and youth in Latin America
A genuine interest in social media
An interest in graphic design
Ability to work independently and take initiative
WORKING HOURS: Flexible. Volunteers will receive a different hashtag to work
on each week and can devote hours as they see fit to producing posts. 1-3
hours weekly is typical.
DURATION OF POSITION: June 17th - August 26, 2020.

To be a premier means for at-risk Ecuadorian youth to achieve a post-secondary education.
Description
The Starfish Foundation coordinates three main programs in Flor de Bastión in Guayaquil, Ecuador: scholarship, tutoring and leadership development. The Starfish Foundation distributes scholarships in the form of all books, uniforms and materials required by the school. Students earn their scholarship based on participation in our tutoring program, motivation to study and economic need. All Scholarship students participate in tutoring. Other students from the neighborhood are also invited to participate in tutoring to receive academic help and have the chance to earn a scholarship for the following year. All of our students, to demonstrate their commitment to their studies as well as their social commitment to their community, participate in community service and leadership development workshops.
