ORGANIZATION: Alzheimer's Association, Iowa Chapter

The Greater Iowa Chapter of the Alzheimer's Association recently launched a Health and Resilience Oureach (HERO) project designed to provide resources and supports to family caregivers of Alzheimer's and dementia patients.

The Alzheimer's Association is looking for individuals who want to use their skills of listening, problem solving, and encouragement to be a volunteer to caregivers of persons with dementia.

In the comfort of your own home, you commit to 2-3 hours per week to make a difference in someone's life by providing support, resources and referrals via telephone. Training of all procedures, materials, and tracking is provided. #CHC

Opportunity includes:

  • Focusing on caregiver resilience and health of person with dementia
  • Provide support, resources, and referrals via telephone (2 hour training required)
  • Application and background checks are required to be accepted as a telephone caregiver support volunteer
