Beach Cities Health District is a public agency formed in 1955 by the voters of Hermosa Beach, Manhattan Beach and Redondo Beach to provide health care services in the community.
AdventurePlex is a health and fitness center created especially for youth and is geared to challenge children physically, mentally, and intellectually with non-stop activities in a safe, structured environment. Volunteers ensure children experience a fun, educational and safe environment by monitoring Toddler areas and assist with fun and engaging activities
Duties:
- Assist staff with both long and short range activities (e.g., Puppet show, Costume Play, Story Time)
- Interact with children for various activities including art projects, reading, and playing games
- Maintain clean and safe environment (a specific checklist of tasks will be provided):
- Picking up discarded toys and organizing areas for continued play
- Sanitize toys or clean areas as needed
- Notify staff of any spills, hazards and damaged or lost materials that need immediate attention
- Assist Instructors with setting up and organizing activities during classes
- Assist at the front desk with checking in/out parents and children when needed
We are looking for once weekly shift commitment.
Available shifts:
- Monday-Friday; 10:00am-1:00pm; 1:00-4:00pm; 4-6:00pm
- Saturday-Sunday; 10:00am-1:00pm; 1:00-4:00pm; 4-7:00pm

Description
Focusing on wellness, not sickness, encourages people to make wiser healthcare decisions. Preventative causes of illness and death, like tobacco smoking, poor diet and physical inactivity, are estimated to be responsible for nearly a million deaths annually-almost 40 percent of total yearly mortality in the United States. According to the Center for Disease Control (CDC), about 90 percent of today’s healthcare costs are for treating people with chronic yet preventable diseases. BCHD’s wellness and healthy living programs and services are aimed at making prevention an integral part of the classrooms, workplace and homes of the beach cities.
To enhance community health through partnerships, programs and services for people who live and work in Hermosa, Manhattan and Redondo Beach.
