Volunteers needed to lift morale of Veterans in Chicago!

Have you always wondered what you can do to show your appreciation and give your support to our Veterans? To let them know they are not forgotten?.....Soldiers' Angels hosts morale luncheons and conducts patient visits for the Veterans at the Edward Hines and Jesse Brown VA Health Care Centers in Chicago, as well as the Captain James A Lovell Federal Health Care Center in North Chicago (at the Great Lakes Naval Base) as a way of showing our appreciation.

We are looking for individuals & groups who will become part of this important team & mission of gratitude! We are honored to serve and welcome your participation to make these events successful for the Veterans.

Luncheons are typically held on Saturdays, and we need volunteers to set up, serve Veterans, clean up, distribute donated items and show support to the Veterans at the luncheon.

Patient visits are coordinated with the volunteer team and the VA campuses. Hours and days will vary so if you are interested, please let us know.

The following is an experience shared from a volunteer at a past gathering supported by Soldiers’ Angels:

"He shook my hand and said thank you as he came into the auditorium. He was one I hadn’t seen before and I shook his hand and said - No. Thank you! We had our lunch and as he was leaving - he came up and shook my hand again and gave me a huge bear hug just after telling me how much this meant to him. He told me, 'You see just two and a half weeks ago I was homeless only with the clothes on my back. So for you guys to come and do this for us - means more than I can say.’ I saw that his eyes were tearing up and that it meant the world to him to know that he has not been forgotten."
