Community Housing Solutions does home repairs in Guilford County, North Carolina, for low income homeowners who cannot financially or physically do the repairs themselves. 75% of our home repair recipients are disabled, elderly, or single mothers.
Volunteer groups work with our experienced construction staff and no prior experience is necessary. Needed skills will be taught "on the job."
Volunteer groups dates include Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays.
Much of our work involves power tools, and the minimum age for volunteers with power tools on site is 18 years. Occasional opportunities are available for people who are a minimum of 14 years old - when power tools are not required to complete the job.
Volunteering in a larger group is frequently weather-dependent.
Groups do all sorts of work, not limited to: repairing floors, reattaching guttering, cutting back over growth, painting, building wheelchair ramps, and roof tear-offs.
