The Ronald McDonald Family Room is part of the Ronald McDonald House Charities of the RGV (RMHCRGV) a global organization. We are located on the 3rd floor inside Children's Hospital in Edinburg. We are open from 8am to 9pm every day and holidays. We provide a home away from home to parents of sick children here at the hospital. Our facility is available to them so they can come and get away from the stressful environment of the hospital. Here they can take a warm shower, eat a meal, have a snack, do laundry, take a nap, use a computer or just simply relax in our living area and watch TV. The role of the volunteer is to help run the place which includes, helping register new clients, keep the kitchen stocked, and wash and fold towels when needed. Our facility is a 3 bedroom facility and can be run with one or two people per shift. Anymore than two would be too many to volunteer per shift. On shifts that show one name you can still sign up for that shift On shifts where there is a line next to a name, that means those volunteers prefer to work by themselves. Volunteers must be 18 and over to volunteer by themselves. If under 18 they must be accompanied by an adult whether it be a relative or friend of same gender. Or volunteer while the manager is present Monday - Friday 8 am -5 pm. Or sign up on shifts with one volunteer signed up already.
