Are you a fearless fundraiser? Are you a connector and networker in your community and looking to use these skills for a good cause?
The Alzheimer's Association seeks outgoing and energetic community volunteers who are willing to take on an seven-month committee role to assist in recruiting and mentoring volunteer fundraisers for The Longest Day.
On June 21, 2017, teams and individual participants across the world will participate in The Longest Day, held annually on the summer soltice to symbolize the challenging journey of those living with the disease and their caregivers. Participants create their own event experience as they participate in an activity they love to honor someone facing the disease, raise awareness, and raise funds for the care, support and research efforts of the Alzheimer's Association.
The Longest Day is essentially a DIY fundraiser: participants can choose to hike, bike, play bridge, go to a karaoke-athon . . . virtually anything they want. The DIY fundraising space is rapidly expanding, and The Longest Day--in it's fifth year--is well-positioned to take advantage of this trend by offering an established struture and a dynamic support system to volunteer fundraisers who want to choose their own fundraising activity.
The time commitment for The Longest Day committee will be about an hour per week through June. Meetings will be monthly from November through June and will be offered virtually via conference call and in person at the Alzheimer's Association Oregon Chapter headquarters in NW Portland.
