BECOME A SILVERADO HOSPICE VOLUNTEER!

We are looking for new volunteers to use their interviewing and recording/editing skills to record our hospice patients share their life story. Our hope is to allow the patient to leave behind a story, message or anything else they choose for their families to treasure. In addition, video recordings can be used to record family members and loved ones of the patient. This can very helpful, especially if the patient is unable to communicate or share stories. For example, if a patient is in the late stages of Alzheimer's and is unable to communicate verbally, family and friends can be recorded sharing special stories and memories of that person. You will be recording and editing and putting this on a DVD. Imagine the thrill of a family member being able to hear grandparent's story in their own words after they have passed away! If this speaks to you, please email Kerri Haley, Social Worker and Volunteer Coordinator at Silverado Hospice, kerri.haley@silveradocare.com. Please email the information below. Require video recorder, microphone and editing software. We have a video recorder and we can work. Do you have access to editing software? Must be able to interview and video record patient and family members Are you interested? Do you have related experience? What part of the city are you available to volunteer in? Are you willing to take a background check, drug and Tuberculosis test ?

**14 years and older may apply to do at home editing with editing software without direct patient contact. No driver license required. Only orientation, background and drug test required.

Mission Statement

Silverado Hospice’s mission is to affirm the cycle of life by enhancing the quality of living for those at the end of life. The Silverado standard is to care compassionately for patients and their families and to empower those we serve to have quality of life options that afford them comfort and dignity.

Description

*We serve San Francisco, San Mateo Santa Clara, and Alameda Counties*

Silverado Hospice honors the value of each life by empowering the patient and family to make supported choices in end-of-life care, enhancing comfort, relieving suffering and supporting effective grieving.

Silverado Hospice Bay Area is looking for the right person to volunteer with one of our hospice patients. The person that we are looking for is kind and patient and can spare an hour or two a week for between six months and a year. We will train you and support you through this journey and we will make every effort to match you with a patient where you get back from them as much as you are giving. We think people that are willing to volunteer are special and we do everything we can to provide you with a rewarding experience. If you have questions, send us an e-mail and our Volunteer Manager will e-mail or call.
