Security Operations Advocates provide direct assistance to shelter clients and families. As DAIS volunteers, shelter advocates must adhere to confidentiality, shelter and DAIS policies and procedures, as well as the agency's Code of Ethics. Shelter Advocates must maintain professional boundaries with shelter residents.

All of our volunteers are required to attend a 26-hour New Advocate Training in June, and in order to most effectively serve our clients, we ask that you commit to a minimum of 18 months.

  • June New Advocate Training:

    (Must attend all to participate)

    • Saturday, June 10th - 9:00am-5:00pm
    • Tuesday, June 13th - 6:00pm-9:00pm
    • Wednesday, June 14th - 6:00pm-9:00pm
    • Thursday, June 15th - 6:00pm-9:00pm
    • Tuesday, June 20th - 6:00pm-9:00pm
    • Wednesday, June 21st - 6:00pm-9:00pm
    • Thursday, June 22nd - 6:00pm-9:00pm

    Help Line & Security Advocates:

    • Saturday, June 24 th - 9am-1pm
    • Tuesday, June 27 th - 6-9pm
    • Thursday, June 29 th - 6-9pm

Domestic Abuse Intervention Services (DAIS) has a mission to empower those affected by domestic violence and advocate for social change through support, education, and outreach. Our vision is a non-violent community that actively promotes safety, peace, justice, and hope.

Description

DAIS has served Dane County for over 35 years. We began with the vision of 5 volunteers in 1976 and have grown to a volunteer program of over 200. We offer free support services including; shelter, 24/hr. crisis line, children's advocacy, support groups, crisis response, and legal advocacy.
