Have a direct impact on saving lives by being part of the team that manages our Intake Program. Work with kill shelters, rescue partners and others to save animals and get them placed in foster homes or with other rescue organizations.
Responsibilities:
- Work with the Local and Long-Distance Intake Leads to handle all incoming requests for Intake
- Work with Foster Coordinator on placement of new animals
- Schedule Intake Exam for all new arrivals
- Work with Rescue Leads to keep track of number of animals in our care
- Help decide if an animal is in danger and needs immediate removal, in coordination with LCAS
- Work with Foster Coordinator to recruit new Fosters when time is critical
- Make sure all new animals are up to date before placement
- Work with Foster Coordinator to monitor the program budget and work to keep costs down and within budget
- Scan medical and vaccination paperwork to Google Drive and inform Foster Coordinator when completed
- Be prepared to say no when HSLC is overcapacity or animal has an issue we cannot handle (chronic health problem, aggression, etc)
Requirements:
- Good interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work effectively, both independently and in a team environment
- Good organizational skills
- Ability to work quickly when time is critical
- Comfortable working in a virtual organizational environment
- Detail orientated and resourceful
- Ability to convey information clearly
- Good computer skills and proficiency in MS Office and Google Drive
- Ability to multitask and meet deadlines
- Ability to organize, prioritize and manage multiple tasks
- 6-12 months

Description
HSLC has been helping animals since our founding in 1966. HSLC has no paid staff nor a physical facility or shelter; all of our animals are in foster homes, display cages at local pet stores, or in temporary boarding until they are adopted into their furever homes.
Thanks to our volunteers and community support, HSLC helped thousands of animals in 2023:
- Nearly 200 cats and dogs fostered
- Over 200 community cats supported
- Nearly 6,000 animals fed via the Loudoun Pet Pantry
