The Humane Society of Loudoun County has been saving animals and helping families with animal-related needs for over 50 years. We are a Foster-based, all Volunteer animal welfare organization. We do not have a physical shelter, so all our animals are in Foster homes, display cages or temporary boarding.
Part of our core mission is the No Kill Philosophy. All of our programs are based on the 11 Components of the no Kill Equation: Foster, Adoption, Community Cats/TNR, Low Cost Spay/Neuter, Pet Pantry, Financial Assistance, Youth and Humane Education, General Helpline and email and Community Events.
We are both a governing and working Board, and are all Volunteer. We are looking for new Board Members who are interested in helping us continue to grow and expand as we fulfill our mission to save and help even more animals and families.
Members of the Board of Directors serve in a volunteer capacity for 2 year terms, which can be renewed. Its mission is to oversee all aspects of the governance of the organization, manage all programs and activities, advocate and support the mission, vision and values of HSLC, and contribute to the continued growth and development of the organization.
Board Members are expected to attend all Board meetings (Quarterly), make a financial contribution to HSLC to the best of their ability, participate in HSLC events, contribute knowledge and skills that support the Strategic Plan and mission, and serve on at least 1 committee.
Board Members participate in Strategic Planning, develop and approve annual budgets, develop and participate in fundraising plans and events, act in best interest of HSLC, and avoid conflicts of interest.
Board Members take on responsibilities that fit their skill set and talents. Board Members that can help with Marketing, Fundraising, Grant-Writing, Non-Profit governance, Animal Care Best Practices, Management, Legal,or Financial expertise are especially needed.
If you want to make a difference and help us save more animals as we continue to grow, consider joining our Board of Directors. Please email a Statement of Interest and a Resume (or a Summary of Relevant Experience and Qualifications) to helpanimals@humaneloudoun.gov.
