PWH is looking for volunteers to help sort and prepare medical supplies for shipment overseas. We collect thousands of pounds of supplies every week which we send to underserved populations in Africa and Southeast Asia. The tasks vary week to week - you may be opening boxes of items to sort, putting together kits of similar items (personal care kits, surgical kits, respiratory kits, etc), or filling boxes with medical equipment, for example. No medical background is needed as we use a color-coded system throughout the warehouse. It's social, fun, flexible and guaranteed to inspire you!

Please visit our website at www.partnersforworldhealth.org to complete a volunteer application. Contact Kelsey, Volunteer Coordinator, at kelsey@partnersforworldhealth.org with any questions.

Mission Statement

To collect unused medical supplies from local medical facilities and distribute them to countries in need, effectively keeping waste out of Maine's landfills; to send local medical personnel on medical missions to developing countries; to educate our local community about global health issues

Description

Partners for World Health is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that collects usable medical supplies from healthcare facilities in Maine, NH & MA which are being discarded due to government regulations and ships them to countries in need. In addition, we organize medical missions to Southeast Asia and Africa for doctors, nurses, and students. We strive to send a tema of medical personnel to every country where we ship a container of medical supplies. Lastly, we are committed to educating our community members about the importance of recycling and the disparities in healthcare around the world. We offer a free lecture series on the first Tuesday of the month from Sept - June in which a medical provider shares information and photographs from a medical service trip abroad
