Have a direct impact on saving lives by being part of the team that manages our Foster Program. Help place just rescued cats, dogs and kittens and work with the Fosters to help get them healthy, happy and ready for their fur--ever homes.
Responsibilities:
- Work with Rescue Coordinator on placement of new animals
- Recruit new Fosters and Cat Condo Caretakers
- Work with Dog/Cat/Kitten Coordinators and Fosters on health and well-being of the animals
- Help oversee placement and movement of cats and kittens between foster homes and display cages
- Help process Foster Applications
- Send notices and updates to Fosters and Dog/Cat/Kitten Coordinators on upcoming events
- Manage all medical and vaccination records; scan into Google Drive
- Keep Zoho (animal tracking database) and Monthly Animal Reports updated with new animals and foster information
- Maintain and update list of current Fosters
- Work with vets to order and store bulk vaccines and test kits
- Work with vets on packages and discounts to help keep costs down
- Monitor program budget and work to keep costs down and within budget
- Manage microchip program, including registration, ordering, maintaining list of chips at each vet
- Make sure all adoptable animals are on website and posted regularly on Social Media
- Work with Adoption and Event Coordinators to make sure there are cage cards and/or info flyers for all adoptable animals at events
- Plan and schedule Foster Orientations
- Maintain and update the Foster Handbook
Requirements:
- Good people and networking skills
- Good communication skills
- Computer and phone access
- Familiarity with Excel and Google Drive
- Ability to track and monitor multiple animals and fosters
- Ability to work independently and be part of a team

Description
HSLC has been helping animals since our founding in 1966. HSLC has no paid staff nor a physical facility or shelter; all of our animals are in foster homes, display cages at local pet stores, or in temporary boarding until they are adopted into their furever homes.
Thanks to our volunteers and community support, HSLC helped thousands of animals in 2023:
- Nearly 200 cats and dogs fostered
- Over 200 community cats supported
- Nearly 6,000 animals fed via the Loudoun Pet Pantry
