We are organizing our 2017 6th Annual Volunteer Recognition Gala and Fundraiser for Rebuilding After Hurricane Matthew in Haiti, which will take place on Saturday, January 14, 2017 at the Silver Spring Civic Center Building.

Hurricane Matthew is the second strongest storm to ever make landfall in Haiti bringing 145 mph winds, heavy rain and dangerous storm surges, resulting in an estimation of more than 1000 deaths and many more in dire need of shelter, clean water and food. In addition, crops were destroyed and unfortunately, the numbers of homeless and hungry are expected to continue rising, especially in the southwest of the country where HavServe has been operating for the past six years.

HavServe is responding to this devastating storm with clean drinking water, food assistance and emergency supplies such as tarps for shelter, blankets and hygiene kits. Our team of local volunteers has been working tirelessly since the hurricane hit and counts on our help to try to restore a sense of normalcy and to eventually, start to rebuild. Rebuilding the communities, the homes, the gardens, the schools, the churches is a daunting, difficult, long-term task. We at HavServe will be there for the long haul to do our part to support in the rebuilding process. As a small, non-profit, volunteer organization, it is only with the help and support of volunteers that we can hope to raise needed funds to make even the smallest difference for the people we serve.
