Volunteers will help bag and distribute food and fresh produce for clients. All distribution is on-site. No off-site deliveries. This food helps tide our clients over between paychecks. Clients are referred by local congregations or social service agencies. Volunteers with bi-lingual skills - Spanish, Korean, Arabic - are needed. This is not a requirement. There are 3 locations: Ladrey Senior Residence, 300 Wythe St, Chick Armstrong Recreation Center, 25 West Reed Ave, John Adams Elementary School. 5651 Rayburn Ave.
Distributions are in the morning between 8am and noon. Individuals. groups, students, families are all welcome. Please register in advance.
Events are the last Saturday of the month -- January - October and the second Saturday in December. There is no distribution in November.
First 2019 distribution: January 26, 2019.

ALIVE! combines faith and love into action to help struggling Alexandria residents. Founded in 1969 as a grassroots movement led by faith-based organizations and community leaders in response to growing concerns about poverty in their City, ALIVE! is a volunteer-governed 501(c)3 not-for-profit organization dedicated to providing emergency and basic needs support to children, families and individuals living in poverty and with hunger in the City of Alexandria. Still celebrating its 50th anniversary milestone, ALIVE! is the oldest and largest private social safety net in the City currently serving thousands of Alexandrians each month, with the support of 45 faith-based member congregations and volunteers.

ALIVE! (ALexandrians InVolved Ecumenically) is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization of volunteers from 45 religious congregations and the community working together to help those in need in Alexandria, Virginia. Founded in 1969, ALIVE! is the largest private safety net for the needy in the city of Alexandria, addressing short-term to long-term needs for those less fortunate in the community. ALIVE! serves over 10,000 Alexandrians annually with shelter; low-cost early childhood education and childcare; financial help for rent, utilities, medical care and other critical needs; emergency food; and deliveries of donated furniture and housewares.
