About

Are you looking for an internship that will boost your abilities in creating and developing community around a cause and polish your administrative skills to a shine? About-Face is looking for a friendly, organized intern. Note that our internships are unpaid.The Community Engagement Intern will work with our Executive Director, Jennifer Berger, to ensure that our volunteers and other supporters feel welcomed, prepared, and appreciated.

College students are encouraged to apply. Note that internships are unpaid. We require that interns be eligible for credit or hours through their school or university. Please check with the appropriate department/educator and confirm this is possible in your application.

About-Face equips women and girls with tools to understand and resist harmful media messages that affect their self-esteem and body image. You can learn more about us at www.about-face.org.

Timeline and time commitment: This internship will ideally take place beginning of September through December 2016, 12-16 hours per week (depending on your school's requirements). Most work hours will be in our downtown San Francisco office, which is accessible via major public transportation.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Duties and responsibilities may include, but may not be limited to:
-- Recruiting volunteers via e-mail, texting, phone calls, and social media
-- Interviewing potential volunteers via Skype and in person
-- Planning and setting up monthly All-Team meetings
-- Training and working with volunteers virtually and in person
-- Ensuring volunteer roles are filled for specific events and other needs
-- Maintaining contact and interests lists for volunteers
-- With other interns, creating and executing an action that furthers About-Face's message
-- Various other office tasks as needed (database updating, organizing, etc.)

REQUIREMENTS AND SKILLS
-- Basic computer skills to use Salesforce (training provided), our contact database
-- Interest in learning to motivate and manage people ethically and smoothly
-- Friendly, effective communication skills via phone, in person, and in writing

We aim to respond within 7 business days after you apply, when we may ask you to interview in person at our San Francisco office, or via phone or Skype. At that time, you may also be asked to provide contact information for three references.
